Keto paneer makhani

A low-carb paneer makhani is an easy to prepare vegetarian Indian dish filled with creamy sauce and authentic Indian spices. The traditional paneer makhani has loads of carbs and sugar, however, a keto-friendly paneer makhani is rich, tangy, and delicious with lesser carbs.

Ingredients –

200g paneer, cubed

2 tbsp butter

½ onion, chopped

2 tomatoes, chopped

2 garlic cloves, chopped

1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

½ tsp ginger paste

½ tsp cumin seeds

½ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp garam masala

1 bay leaf

½ tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp coriander powder

1/3 tsp fenugreek leaves

1/3 cup water

Salt to taste

1 cup fresh coriander, chopped

 

Directions –

  1. Melt butter in a pan over medium flame.
  2. Add in the bay leaf and cumin seeds.
  3. Stir for 1 minute.
  4. Add in the onion, garlic and ginger paste with a pinch of salt.
  5. Cook until the onion is soft.
  6. Add in the tomatoes, tomato paste, coriander powder, turmeric and water.
  7. Cook for 5-6 minutes until the tomato has broken down.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a blender.
  9. Remove bay leaf.
  10. Blend the mixture into a fine paste. Make sure the paste isn’t too thick.
  11. Put this back into the pan over medium-high flame and add in the paneer.
  12. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  13. Add in the cream, garam masala and fenugreek leaves.
  14. Mix well and garnish with coriander leaves.
  15. Serve and enjoy!
