Low-carb chicken carbonara

Keto chicken carbonara is made using creamy parmesan cheese and crispy tender chicken and requires no egg. It is an Italian dish with thick creamy sauce low in carbs and hence, considered ketogenic friendly.

Ingredients –

2 pound boneless chicken breasts or thighs, skinless and cut into bite-size pieces

1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated

6 slices bacon, cut into strips and cooked and crumbled

½ cup onion, chopped

2 tsp garlic, minced

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 cup chicken broth

½ tsp garlic powder

1 tbsp bacon grease (or) keto-friendly oil

1 tsp oregano

1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped

2-3 cups fresh spinach (optional)

Salt and pepper


Directions –

  1. Heat oil or bacon grease on a pan over medium-high flame.
  2. Add in the chicken along with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sauté the chicken until it is cooked completely.
  4. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add in the garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  6. Add in the whipping cream along with the chicken broth.
  7. Scrape the bottom bits on the pan and mix with the chicken broth and whipping cream mixture for a tastier flavour.
  8. Add in the cheese, basil, and oregano.
  9. Sprinkle the bacon and cook well.
  10. You can also add in the spinach here and cook until the spinach wilts.
  11. Add the chicken into the mixture and stir well.
  12. Season with salt and pepper as per your taste and desire.
  13. Simmer for 4-5 minutes additionally before serving.
  14. Serve and enjoy!
