Low-carb chicken lettuce wraps

Chicken lettuce wraps are a great substitute for normal wraps and are extremely keto-friendly. They have low-carbs and are also very light yet filling. Lettuce and chicken might not seem like the tastiest combination, however, the low-carb chicken lettuce wrap is gonna have you lick your fingers, drooling for more.

Ingredients -

For wrap :

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup onion, chopped

Salt and pepper

2 green onions, chopped

2 tbsp garlic, chopped

1.5 tbsp ginger, chopped

2/3 cup celery, chopped (optional)

2 tbsp keto-friendly oil

1-2 heads butter lettuce

 

For sauce :

Almond butter sauce –

3 tbsp almond butter

2 tbsp coconut aminos

2 tbsp hot pepper sauce (optional)

3-4 tbsp water

(or)

Hoisin sauce –

5 tbsp low-carb soy sauce

2 tbsp low-carb peanut butter

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tbsp hot sauce

2 tsp sesame oil

2 tsp keto-friendly rice wine vinegar

1 tbsp erythritol

½ tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper

 

Directions-

  1. Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl to form a smooth sauce. You can choose to use either of the two sauces, as per your desire.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
  3. Toss in the onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté well.
  4. Season with a pinch of salt and cook until fragrant.
  5. Add in the chicken and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook the meat for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Make sure your pan isn’t wet or watery.
  8. Add in the celery and season with a pinch of salt.
  9. Sauté for 1 minute.
  10. Add in the 2 tbsp of sauce prepared and mix well to coat the mixture in the pan.
  11. Make sure to use less sauce to preserve the crunchiness of the chicken instead of making it soggy. Remove and set aside.
  12. Place the lettuce wraps over a tray.
  13. Pour in the saucy chicken over the lettuce wraps, enough to serve 8 wraps.
  14. Garnish with green onions.
  15. Serve with extra sauce on the side and enjoy!
