Jacqueline Smith

For Jacqueline, she overcame her comfort habits of emotional eating and lack off discipline to completely turn her life around and lose and outstanding 11 inches off her waist!

How did you feel before losing weight?

Before Jacqueline made the big switch in her life, weight had her living less than she deserved. From feeling tired and lazy to deal with moodiness. She wasn't as motivated as she should have been. Many people report that after weight loss, they also are significantly less lazy. Another problematic habit she suffered from was emotional eating and snacking. Her comfort food would be Cookies n Creme Ice Cream.

When it comes to bad eating habits, they come in all different variants. But the problem with snacking is when it's constant and unhealthy. For some, they may not even realize they went to the fridge for the eighth time of the day.

What sort of health conditions did you have due to the weight?

Due to being overweight, Jacqueline had had Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. The pressure and weight of having these diseases can be detrimental for some, enough for even prediabetic individuals to immediately begin to lose weight.

What is the one thing or many things at once that made you realize its time to change

Despite the comforts of food, Jacqueline realized she needed to make a change in her life. In the back of her mind, she had always been aware of the problem of diabetes running heavily on her mother's side of the family. She had unfortunately lost her mother and several family members to diabetes. This in mind, paired with being tired of being overweight, had prompted her to begin her life changing weight loss journey.

Throughout the weight loss, Jacqueline had also written a book,"I Choose To Live" Her book journeys through her life, and in writing it, the weight loss had become real to her.

What was the biggest struggle you went through while losing weight?

Everyone has struggled throughout weight loss; it's practically impossible to get through it without feeling some bit of temptation. Jacqueline had her struggles while dealing with discipline and managing consistency. Consistency is one of the hardest things to manage, and for many people, it never can accomplish.

Fighting hard against her temptation to break her discipline and avoiding cheese, she continued bettering her life.

Did anything impact you to make it harder to lose weight?

Jacqueline had struggled to balance work and manage her wellness at the same time. This is a common occurrence when it comes to losing weight, finding time to better yourself.

Whether it's exhaustion from coming back home after a long day of work to temptations due to stress and frustration, or not having time to workout, work can get to the better of your health goals. To try and combat this, finding a schedule is critical for success.

What kept you motivated throughout the weight loss?

"I wanted to Live a life of health wellness first and foremost for myself."

It is clear Jacquline prioritizes her health over comfort and work, and rightfully so. Often, we can tend to neglect our bodies over to what may feel good or right, but in fact, are damaging it. For some, they may not even realize that they suffer from any problems before it's too late.

Another part of her quote is that she does this for herself and nobody else. When you lose weight, basing the reasons for someone else's preference or social media will most likely lead you to failure. You need to first do it for yourself.

A great tactic to this is listing why losing weight will help you, aside from looking good.

Jacqueline is also motivated to share her testimony the12 to save a life, like possibly yourself.

How much weight did you lose in total?

Jacqueline had lost an outstanding 41 pounds and went down 11 inches on her waistline. She also managed to go down four bra sizes. This is important to note for women who may feel they struggle with pains from a large chest size. Typically, weight loss may be able to aid you in reducing breasts in size. Compared to her 230lbs, she is now an amazing 189lbs.

How do you feel now after losing weight?

For each stage of her weight loss journey, it was different. Before covid-19 had ravaged the world, she was 188 pounds. Like many individuals, throughout the quarantine, had managed to put back on the weight, moving up to 212lbs in June. This may sound devastating to many, the thought of yoyoing back up the weight, but Jacqueline became disciplined.

"I was not making any more excuses and hot serious about losing what I gained."

Did any health problems go away once you lost the weight?

After the significant weight loss, Jacqueline was able to come off medications such as lisinopril and Metformin.

What is one thing you couldn't do before weight loss that you can do now?

For Jacqueline, one of the major things she couldn't do back then that she could now be jogging for 30 minutes straight. When people typically think of jogging for only half an hour, it doesn't seem too intense. But for inactive and overweight individuals, it can be exhausting and painful. For many beginners, some may only be able to run 3 minutes before stopping.\

If you are like this, we promise it only gets better as you continue to exercise. Though it will take time, endurance will build up from weight loss and constant movement as you better your muscles.

What did you learn about yourself throughout the journey?

Throughout her weight loss journey, Jacqueline had learned, "That I am a survivor and overcomer."
